Lesson 4: Storing text in binaryStoring text in binary
Problem
In the late 1980s, the ISO-8859-7 character encoding was created in order to encode Greek text files. The encoding is based on the ASCII standard but includes mappings for the letters of the Greek alphabet.
This table shows the mapping for the first 10 letters:
Binary | Character |
---|---|
¦Á | |
¦Â | |
¦Ã | |
¦Ä | |
¦Å | |
¦Æ | |
¦Ç | |
¦È | |
¦É | |
¦Ê |
According to ISO-8859-7, what is the binary encoding of the Greek word "¦Ê¦Á¦É"?
Note that the Greek language is written from left to right, like the English language.
